Ashlee Olson picked up where she left off in 2017. The sophomore forward is the top returning scorer from the 2017 team, having recorded five netters. She started 2018 off on the right foot Friday with the Pipers' lone tally in a 2-1 loss at Wis-Stout. Olson rambled up the left side and placed a shot perfectly at 26:42 to give the Pipers an early lead. 

Unfortunately, the Blue Devils tied the game on a penalty kick eight minutes later and then got the deciding tally 19 minutes into the second half. Olson had three of Hamline's overall total of eight shots. Dani Wright played in goal for HU, finishing with one save. 

The Pipers will be up early for their next encounter, a 10:30 a.m. meeting with California Lutheran at Paterson Field on Sunday, Sept. 2. It's the middle part of a season opening trifecta that finishes with HU playing at Minnesota-Morris on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 2:30 p.m.
