Weiland Parrish continues to impress in his first year with the HU men's hockey team. The freshman forward accounted for all the offense the Pipers could muster in a 4-2 non-conference loss Wednesday night at Wis-River Falls.
Despite being held to 18 shots on goal, the Pipers hung tough with their Badger stater rivals. WRF led 2-0 midway through the game when Parrish finished off a play that has been started with
Mitch Hall, who gave it to brother Tommy who shipped it to Parrish for the tally.
It stayed at 2-1 into the third frame. The Falcons made it 3-1 but Parish responded back on a setup by
Luke Erickson at 6:36. Unfortunately, WRF got that goal back and the Pipers couldn't catch up. Parrish, a native of Bloomington, Minn. was the gunner for the Pipers with four shots.
Evan Robert had 23 saves in goal for HU.
Hamline is 2-15-2 overall and 2-7-1 in MIAC play. The latter number is good for eight points but HU is just two behind Gustavus Adolphus, whom currently sits in fifth place -- the final playoff spot. HU will look to improve on that position this weekend with a home and home series against Bethel. The teams meet Friday, January 25, in Blaine at 7:00 p.m. The rematch is Saturday, January 26 at TRIA Rink, also at 7:00 p.m.
