Brooks Inching Closer to 1,000 Point Club

1/9/2019 9:33:00 PM

Box Score He is getting close enough that he can smell it. Isaac Brooks threw in 19 points and added 13 rebounds for the HU men's basketball team in a 68-62 loss to Concordia in Moorhead Wednesday night.

The Lakeville, Minn. native is just 54 points away from becoming the 17th player in school history to record 1,000 points for his career. Unfortunately, it came on a night when HU fell to 7-6 overall and 4-4 in the MIAC.

Four of the five Piper starters finished in double figures. Besides Brooks' 19 markers, Ethan Scheuring threw in 14 points with Jake Larson and Connor Knutson adding 10 each.

Hamline shot a credible 42 per cent from the field and came close in rebounds, trailing by a slim 38-34 margin.

But the Cobbers had just four turnovers all night and committed just one in the second half.

HU started well, scoring the game's first five points. CC rallied to grab an eight point lead at one point. A Hamline comeback cut the margin to 35-32 by halftime. The Pipers got within two early in the second half but CC pushed it back to nine and held on for the win.

Hamline returns home to face Carleton (5-8, 3-5 MIAC) Saturday, January 12 at Hutton Arena. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
