In a back and forth women's basketball game, Concordia outscored Hamline in the fourth quarter to edge the Pipers, 54-50, Wednesday in Moorhead.
Reilly Geistfeld rattled in 17 points and
Chan'el Anderson-Manning added a dozen but the Cobbers outscored the Pipers, 7-2, in the final 100 seconds of play to earn the decision.
HU fell to 8-6 overall and 3-4 in MIAC play. But, as has been the case all season, they did not go down easily.
CC grabbed a 12-8 first quarter advantage only to see Hamline fight back to forge a 24-all tie at halftime. Hamline leaned ahead 37-36 after three quarters and stretched the margin to 42-36 with 7:41 to play. CC hit a three-pointer that was partially offset by a
Gabby Robinson that made it 44-39. The Cobbers scored the next five points but Geistfeld put Hamline back ahead at 46-44 with 2:54 left. Concordia scored only to see Geistfeld hit another short shot for a 48-47 edge with 1:16 to go.
Unfortunately, Hamline went cold after that, hitting just one more basket the rest of the way. The Cobbers connected on enough free throws to come out on top.
Hamline recorded a dozen steals and forced 19 CC turnovers.
HU heads back to Hutton Arena Saturday, January 12 to face Carleton. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
