It wasn't for a lack of shots. The Hamline women's soccer team unloaded 13 shots -- 11 of which landed on goal -- but Gustavus Adolphus refused to budge and came away with a 3-0 victory Wednesday in the Paterson Field finale for the 2019 season.
Jenna Sampson came off the bench to unleash three shots with
Ashlee Olson,
Gaby Diaz and
Ciara Gregory adding two each.
Melanie Hopkins had four saves in goal for HU, now 5-11 overall and 1-8 in MIAC games.
An own goal was the extent of the scoring for the first 73 minutes of play. The Gusties added two in a nine minute span late in the second half to pull away. It wasn't for lack of Piper pressure. HU took eight shots in the second half alone and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Pipers wrap up the season Saturday, November 2 at Augsburg. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
