Currier Gets First Collegiate Goal For W Soccer

Most of the time, Carin Currier can be found on the back side or in the middle of the field for the Hamline women's soccer team. On Sunday, however, she moved up and scored her first college goal in the Pipers' 2-1 loss at Concordia.

The freshman's goal at 20:19 offset an early CC goal and lifted the Pipers into a 1-1 deadlock that lasted until the 83 minute mark when the Cobbers broke through for the winning tally. As a result, Hamline fell to 4-7-0 overall, 1-5-0 in the MIAC.

The Pipers were outshot, 19-9, with Currier and Cailey Schmitt leading the offense with two attempts apiece.  Lauren Sicora had eight saves in goal for HU and is now second in the conference with 59 stops. The sophomore is third  in the league with an .855 save percentage.

Hamline returns home to play back-to-back games next weekend at Paterson Field. It's a conference matchup on Saturday, October 12 when St. Catherine is the visitor for a 1:00 p.m. game. On Sunday, October 13, Wis-Stout is at Paterson for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference game.
