ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Hamline football team fell in their final home game of the season to #4 Saint John's, 70-0. The nationally ranked Johnnies proved tough to stop as they compiled over 500 yards of offense on the day.
Before the game the Pipers took a moment to recognize their eight senior players for their four years of hard work and dedication to the program. The eight seniors included
Riley Bakken,
Brandon Decker,
Tanner Lunceford,
Brandon Miller,
Manny Moton,
Zach Reed,
Monty Stenroos, and
Wolfgang Wenneker. Hailey Rogers, the team's manager and filmer, was also recognized.
For Hamline, junior quarterback
Connor Leavens completed seven passes for 79 yards on the day, including connecting with
Tyler Dobbs on a 32-yard pass.
Zander Payne recorded the most rushing yards for HU, with 28 in the game on nine carries.
Defensively,
Carson Reinard logged nine tackles and Stenroos was close behind him with seven of his own.
For Saint John's, quarterback Jackson Erdmann was efficient, completing 15 passes in 23 attempts for 256 yards and three touchdowns. Ravi Alston was his favorite target, as Alston finished with over 100 receiving yards. Running back Dylan Cerney also surpassed 100 offensive yards, scoring two touchdowns on 11 carries.
The Pipers will close out their 2019 campaign with a game against Augsburg on Saturday, November 16
th. That game is scheduled to take place at Sea Foam Stadium on the campus of Concordia-St. Paul at 7 p.m.
