AINT BONIFACIUS, Minn. - In their 2019 season-opener, the Hamline women's basketball team (1-0) defeated Crown College (0-1) 73-44 on the road. This is the second straight year that the Pipers have started their season with a win.

Hamline was led by senior
Reilly Geistfeld, who scored 25 points on 10-13 shooting. Geistfeld also added four rebounds, a block, and two steals to complete a well-rounded performance. The rest of the scoring was fairly balanced, with 11 other players scoring for HU, including the bench scoring 28 points.

The Pipers shot a solid 41.3% in the game while holding their opponents to shooting below 30%. Hamline also held a 26-7 edge in points off turnovers and 14-2 advantage in second chance points.

Hamline jumped out to a quick start in the contest, holding an 11-0 lead two minutes into the game. By the end of the first quarter, the Pipers would stretch that to a 14-point lead, being ahead 23-9. The team continued to build off that in the second quarter, leading 44-15 heading into halftime.

From there, HU was able to cruise to a 73-44 win, never leading by less than 20 points in the second half.
