ST. PAUL, Minn. - After a close first half, the Hamline men's basketball team (1-5, 0-4 MIAC) saw No. 12-ranked Saint John's (6-1, 4-0 MIAC) pull away in the second half to go on to win 82-57 at Hutton Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Ten different players were involved in the scoring for the Pipers, being led by first year
Marshall Holland who ended with 12 points as well as six rebounds, which was tied for the most on the team. Junior
Michael Dillon and first year
Jake Veldman chipped in with nine points apiece and junior
Trey Prince added eight.

The first half featured a lot of back-and-forth action, with no team holding more than a five-point lead until the final three minutes. The Johnnies ended the half on a 12-5 run which allowed them to take a six-point lead into halftime, up 38-32.

Saint John's came out strong in the second half, opening play with a 15-0 point run and not allowing the Pipers to score for the first five minutes of the half. This put HU down 53-32 with 15 minutes left to play. From here, the Johnnies continued to build to their lead and cruised to the end of regulation, walking away with the 82-57 win.

Hamline only committed 11 turnovers in the game, but the Johnnies made the most of them, scoring 21 points off turnovers, compared to HU's 11. The Pipers did get solid production from their bench, who scored 30 points on the day.

The Johnnies put up an impressive shooting performance in the game, connecting on 54.7% of their field goals and 50.0% of their threes. This efficiency was led by top-scorer Colton Codute, who shot 63.6% (7-11), including draining five of six from deep.

The Pipers will have two more road games before their trip to Florida, taking on St. Olaf on Wednesday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m. and then travelling to UW-River falls on December 14 for another 7:00 p.m. contest.
