Hamline's five men's basketball seniors (pictured above with their families) wrapped up their careers with an 89-63 loss to Bethel at Hutton Arena Saturday. The Pipers finished 11-14 overall and 8-12 in MIAC play. The latter mark placed them in a tie for sixth place with Gustavus Adolphus in the league standings but the Gusties move on due to having an edge in a tiebreaker.
Isaac Brooks (30) and
Ethan Scheuring (44) were among the quintet of seniors recognized before the game. The pair promptly went out and scored 18 points apiece to lead the HU offense. Brooks also snatched a team high six rebounds. The Lakeville, Minn. native, playing in his 100th game as a Piper, is 16th all-time in points with 1,118. He also ranks 12th in career field goals with 441.
In addition to Brooks and Scheuring's offensive outputs,
Jake Larson scored nine points and
Connor Knutson (23) added eight. Brooks led the Pipers in scoring this season at 14.4points per game with Scheuring next in line at 12.4. Larson (11.6) and Knutson (11.8) also finished the season in double digits for scoring.
Also honored before the game were
Connor Moore (20) and
Will Hoiseth (50).
The Pipers shot a credible 43.1 per cent from the field for the game. but the Royals (18-7 overall) shot 50.8 per cent and were 15-for-28 from three-point range.
