Lacrosse Opens With Big Victory Over Carthage

The Hamline lacrosse team opened the 2019 season in impressive fashion with an 11-5 victory over Carthage late Saturday night in Minneapolis. Sydney Dynneson (9) scored three of her game high four goals in the first half as Hamline jumped to a 6-3 lead and went on to defeat Carthage, 11-5. Alycia Monserrate Novotny, who opened the scoring 32 seconds into the game, added three for the Pipers. Molly Dionne had an excellent game in goal with 11 saves.

HU trailed 2-1 when Dynneson, a junior, went to work by scoring three consecutive goals.

Armed with a three-goal cushion to start the second half, Hamline broke the game open with four more unanswered goals. When all was said and done, Maya Hernandez had scored twice with Lexus Tatge (who also had two assists) and Kalley Elwell adding solos. The Pipers held an edge in shots on goal over the Lady reds by a 19-16 margin.

Hamline, picked as the preseason favorite in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference, opens league play March 9 at Loras.
