Hopefully,
Brandon Zajicek gave HU head men's hockey coach
Cory Laylin a sign of things. The Albertville, Minn. native scored his second goal of the season for Hamline in a 3-1 ,loss at St. Mary's Friday night.
The sophomore completed a three way play with
Zack Taylor and leading scorer
Weiland Parrish on a power play in the third period or HU, now 4-15-2 overall and 2-9-2 in the MIAC.
Unfortunately, SMU led 3-0 at that point and held the Pipers off the rest of the way.
The Cardinals broke a scoreless tie with a pair of second period goals and another one early in the third frame.
HU goalie
Sam Nelson made 33 saves.
The Pipers came out flying, outshooting the Cardinals, 11-8, in the scoreless first period. HU, however, only managed seven more shots in the next 40 minutes.
Mitch McPherson had four in that first frame and led the HBU offense with seven.
The teams have a rematch on Saturday, February 9 at TRIA Rink. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
