Evan Bayer tossed a nine-inning complete game eight hitter as the Piper baseball team defeated Carleton, 6-3, in Tucson, Arizona in a non-conference game. Bayer walked just one and struck out seven as HU improved to 5-6 on the season.
The Pipers grabbed a 2-0 first inning lead but the Knights rallied for a 3-2 lead after three innings.
Cyle Hartwig tied the game the hard way in the sixth inning -- he was plunked by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The 3-3 deadlock lasted into the eighth inning. With two out,
Jake Dujmovic and Hartwig ran into a other pitch.

Cullen Buck then severed the tie with a bases clearing double to right field,
Given the lead, Bayer retired the last six batters in a row and HU had the victory.
The Pipers get back on the field Friday against Wesleyan for another nine-inning game.
