Pipers roll past St. Catherine 8-0, look to MIAC playoffs

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Hamline women's hockey team (18-3-4, 14-1-4 MIAC) ended the regular season in impressive fashion, getting an 8-0 road win over St. Catherine on Saturday afternoon. They will now turn their attention to the MIAC playoff tournament, as they will host Augsburg on Saturday, February 29 for a 2:00 p.m. game at TRIA Rink.
 
Sophomore Molly Garin had a big game for the Pipers, recording four points on the day with a goal and three assists. With the four points, she now leads the MIAC with 39 points on the year.
 
Hamline scored their first three goals within the first six minutes, with first year Hannah Dorsey opening the scoring at 3:59 being assisted by Garin. This was Dorsey's second goal of the season. Senior Bre Simon scored next at 5:10 (assists to first years Sophie Rausch and Madison Davis) and then junior Madison Kolbow finished the scoring spree at 5:34 (assists to Garin and senior Jordan Hansen).
 
In the second Dorsey scored again early in the period, putting HU up 4-0 two minutes in. This time she was assisted by first years Elizabeth Valley and Taylor Stefan. Rausch scored an unassisted goal next, helping Hamline take a 5-0 lead into the final period.
 
Garin got her goal within the first minute of the third period, scoring on a powerplay after finishing passes from senior Dani Wright and junior Olivia Arkell. Stefan added to the lead with a goal at 13:48 with assists going to first year Michaela Arnold and Valley. Hansen closed out the scoring at 18:20, being assisted by Garin and Kolbow.
 
The Pipers held a dominant 42-10 shot advantage on the day with junior McKenna Hulslander stopping all 10 shots that came her way to earn the win and improve her season record to 10-1-1.
