BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Hamline women's tennis team (0-6, 0-4 MIAC) fell to Gustavus (3-5, 3-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Life Time courts in Bloomington, by a score of 9-0.
In doubles, junior
Bae Wa and senior
Megan Anderson were the only duo to get a game off their opponent, falling 8-2 in the No. 2 spot. Senior
Tessa Rugg and sophomore
Taylor Hopkins played at No. 1 doubles and sophomore
Yee Thao and junior
Janie Schwartz played at No. 3 doubles, each falling 8-0.
Anderson, playing at No. 3 singles, took multiple games off her opponent (Emily Norman) in each set, but fell 6-3, 6-2. Schwartz played in the No. 6 spot and took three games off Megan Karrow in the first set, but fell 6-0 in the second.
At No. 4 singles, Hopkins fell to Rachel Lindrud 6-3, 6-1 and Thao was defeated 6-1, 6-2 by Hayley Trebil in the No. 5 slot.
Rugg played in the No. 1 spot, falling to Ginger Valentine 6-1, 6-1 and Wa rounded out the group at No. 2 singles, dropping her match against Anna Stultz 6-0, 6-0.
The Pipers won't play again until March 22, when they take on Birmingham-Southern on their spring trip to Orlando, Florida. The team will also take on Calvin and UW-Whitewater on the trip.
