NORTHFIELD, MINN.—The Hamline University women's volleyball team pushed their win streak to five games with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-9, 25-19, 25-16) victory at Carleton on Friday night behind season-high performances via Megan Rubbelke's 54 assists, Sydney Larson's 21 kills, and Rachel Rettmann's 20 kills.
The victory gives Hamline a 17-5, 7-1 MIAC record while Carleton falls to 6-16, 1-7 MIAC.
Hamline 3, Carleton 1 (23-25, 25-9, 25-19, 25-16)
Outside of a 1-0 deficit, the Knights never trailed in a 25-23 victory in set one, where Rachel Rettmann went off for seven kills. That was the ignition Hamline needed in set two as they closed the frame with a 15-3 run behind nine team kills en route to a 25-9 score. Four-of-nine Carleton points in set two came via Hamline errors.
Sydney Larson erupted for seven kills in the Pipers' 25-19 victory in set three before Rachel Rettmann took over in set four. The Knights held a 9-8 edge in the fourth frame before Rettmann gave Hamline the lead for good at 10-9 with back-to-back kills, and would finish the game with four more to seal a 25-16 victory, and 3-1 match win.
Jenna Rubbelke notched a game-high 22 digs for Hamline, while Larson added 16. The Pipers offense hit .300 while Carleton notched a .109 mark.
Hamline will make the short-trek to Macaelster tomorrow, Saturday, October 23 for a 7:00 p.m. match.
