RIVER FALLS, WIS.—The Hamline University men's hockey team made the short trek to No. 12 UW-River Falls on Friday night. The Pipers handed UW-River Falls their first loss of the season in a 2-0 score at Hunt Arena.
Hamline's first victory of the 2021-22 season gives them a 1-2 record while UW-River Falls drops to 3-1-1. It also marked the first collegiate victory for head coach Shane Wagner.

Goalie Kevin Lake came through in a big way for the Pipers with 37 saves. He didn't receive offensive support until the game's mid-point when Bailey Sommers' goal at the 10:16 mark of the second gave Hamline a 1-0 lead, as Tyler Nyman and Joe Collins were credited with assists on the play. The Pipers made things 2-0 at 7:10 of the third period courtesy of Brandon Bissett's goal off a feed from Bronson Adams.
Lake's counterpart Dean Buchholz made 15 saves in net for UW-River Falls. The Falcons outshot Hamline 37-17.
The Pipers will return to action tomorrow, Saturday, November 13 at Northland for a 7:00 p.m. game.
