DULUTH, MINN.—The Hamline University women's hockey team made the two-hour trip north to Duluth, Minnesota to first-year MIAC member St. Scholastica on Friday. The Pipers dug themselves from a 2-0 deficit behind Sophie Rausch's hat trick, which secured them a 5-2 victory over the Saints.
The Pipers improve to 5-3, 4-1 MIAC while St. Scholastica falls to 5-3-1, 3-1-1 MIAC.

St. Scholastica jumped to a quick 2-0 advantage behind goals from Mariah Haedrich at 2:14 of the first, and Taylor Thompson at the 6:13 mark. The Pipers rattled off five unanswered goals, but didn't take the lead until the third period.
Rausch's fourth shot of the game resulted in a goal at 7:36 of the first off a feed from Molly Garin, which cut Hamline's deficit to 2-1. St. Scholastica's Lisa LaRoche was called for checking at 9:36 of the second, and Hamline capitalized via Amanda Nylander's tally at 10:14 of the frame that knotted the game at 2-2.
Rausch put the finishing touches on her hat trick with two goals within :14 of each other at 9:15 and 9:29 of the third that made the score 4-2. Nylander sealed St. Scholastica's fate at 13:29 of the third period, when her second goal of the game made things 5-2.
Pipers goalie McKenna Hulslander made 23 saves in the complete-game win, while her counterpart Lori Huseby tallied 33 saves for St. Scholastica. Hamline outshot St. Scholastica 38-25.
The Pipers will host St. Scholastica tomorrow, Saturday, December 4 at 2:00 p.m.
