ST. PAUL, Minn. - In their second MIAC doubleheader of the weekend, the Hamline softball team (3-7, 0-4 MIAC) fell in both games to St. Thomas (12-4, 5-1 MIAC) with scores of 8-0.

Â
GAME 1: ST. THOMAS 8, HAMLINE 0 (6 INNINGS)
In the first game, the Tommies scored six late runs to end the game after six innings of play.
Â
Jacobs singled in the top of the first inning, giving the Pipers an early chance, but they were not able to get a runner past first base. The Tommies scored in the bottom of the inning, taking advantage of a HU error to take a 1-0 lead. Four hits in the second for UST lead to another run, making it 2-0.
Â
It would remain a two-run game until the bottom of the fifth when St. Thomas used four hits and another Piper error to score four more runs, and an additional run in the sixth ended the game.
Â
Pallais-Yllescass and Cook both singled in the sixth, giving the Pipers their best chance of the game to score, but the Tommies got out of the inning without any damage.
Â
Senior
Alex Molloy pitched all 5.2 innings of the game, with only four of the eight runs being earned. She struck out one batter and walked one in the outing.
Â
GAME 2: ST. THOMAS 8, HAMLINE 0 (5 INNINGS)
The Piper offense struggled to get going again in game two, with just one hit in the game. It was Klinnert who would spoil UST's Kierstin Anderson-Glass' no-hitter with a single in the second inning.
Â
The Tommies broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the second inning, hitting a grand slam as part of a five-run inning. A two-run homer in the fourth made it 7-0 and three singles in the fifth led to a final run which would give them the run-rule victory.
Â
Molloy was the only other Piper to reach base in the game, walking in the second inning.
Â
Klinnert pitched the first 4.0 innings for the Pipers and would take the loss, after giving up seven earned runs on seven hits and four walks. Junior
Dana Rosbacka pitched the final 0.1 innings, giving up three hits and an unearned run.
Â
The Pipers play again on Tuesday, hosting St. Catherine to Meredith Field for a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m. If you are planning to attend, please review the spring spectator policy before Tuesday.
