SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's basketball team cruised to their eighth-straight victory, as they ran past Carleton 80-45 behind Larisa O'Neil's career-high 27 points off seven three-pointers made at Hutton Arena on Monday.
The Pipers, who last achieved an eight-game win streak during the 2008-09 season, improve to 9-2, 8-1 MIAC, while Carleton falls to 4-8, 3-6 MIAC.
Hamline 80, Carleton 45
All seven lead changes in the contest took place in the first quarter, when Hamline took the lead for good off Tess Hauer's layup with 1:49 left in the first that made the score 15-14. O'Neil went on to finish the contest 10-of-14 shooting, and 7-of-11 from the three-point line along with four rebounds.
Sophie Findell added 15 points for the Pipers, while Hauer and Lecher each tallied 11 points and seven rebounds. Hauer added a trio of blocks to her stat line. Hamline finished the contest 13-of-25 from beyond the arch, and 28-of-60 from the field while holding Carleton to a dismal .254 (15-of-59) shooting figure and a .211 (4-of-19) three-point mark. The Pipers notched a season-high 54 team rebounds.Â
Isabelle Henry led Carleton with 17 points.
The Pipers will host Macalester at Hutton Arena on Wednesday, January 12 at 7 p.m.
