SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University men's hockey team hosted Bethel on the back-end of a home-and-home series at TRIA Rink on Saturday night. The Royals exploded with three goals within the opening four minutes, and didn't look back in a 7-3 victory over the Pipers.
The Pipers fall to 3-12-1, 1-7 MIAC, while Bethel improves to 12-6-1, 5-4-1 MIAC.

A whopping 14 penalties were assessed in the contest, as each team committed seven.
The Royals cruised to a 4-0 lead at 10:17 of the first, which provoked Hamline to make a goalie change in favor of Maximillian Haselbacher.
Tyler Nyman's first goal of the season at 14:42 of the first period narrowed Bethel's lead to 4-1, before they went into the first intermission with a 5-1 edge. No scoring occurred in the second period, before both teams traded two goals in the third to make things final at 7-3. Brendan Sheehan and Brandon Bissett (power play) each notched a goal for the Pipers in the third period. Mathias Branton, Joe Collins, and Sheehan each picked up assists in the contest for Hamline.
Bethel held a slight 29-28 edge in shots. Ridge Gerads tallied 25 saves in net for the Royals. Hamline goalie Kevin Lake made five saves over 14:06 of work, before Haselbacher played the final 45:53 and stopped 17 shots.
The Pipers will host St. Olaf at TRIA Rink on Friday, February 4 at 7 p.m.
