DE PERE, WIS.—The Hamline University women's hockey team's 2022-23 season opener pitted them at St. Norbert on Friday night. Three-of-six goals scored in the contest occurred on the power play. Two of them belonged to St. Norbert, who secured a 4-2 victory over the Pipers.
Hamline falls to 0-1, while St. Norbert begins their season 1-0.

The Green Knights held a 12-4 advantage in shots over the opening 20:00, which resulted in their 2-0 lead behind Lexi Bonfe's goal at 4:01, and Morgan Olson's power-play tally at 8:56 of the first period. The second period saw Hamline knot the game at 2-2 behind Hannah Dorsey's power-play tally at 7:30, and Emma Nelson's score at 8:40.
Pipers goalie Olivia Rinzel stopped 10-of-11 shots in the second period, where St. Norbert's lone tally of the frame was of the game-winning variety thanks to Morgan Olson's power-play score at 17:30 that pushed the margin to 3-2. Margaret Wohlleber iced the game with the third period's lone goal at 8:04 that widened the Green Knights' lead to 4-2.
St. Norbert out shot Hamline 35-19. Olivia Rinzel made 31 saves in the goaltending loss for Hamline, while Brynn Waisman stopped 17 shots in net for the Green Knights.
Morgan Olson finished the game with two goals for St. Norbert.
The Pipers will look for revenge against St. Norbert in De Pere, Wisconsin tomorrow, Saturday, October 29 at 2 p.m.
