DE PERE, WIS.—The Hamline University women's hockey team got revenge on St. Norbert, as they responded with a 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon for a weekend split in De Pere, Wisconsin.
The Pipers improve to 1-1, while the Green Knights fall to 1-1.
Hamline 3, St. Norbert 2
Three-of-five goals scored in the contest occurred via special teams. St. Norbert prevailed on the power play at 6:37 of the first courtesy of Maddux Federici, which made the score 1-0. That proved to be their lone lead of the game as the Pipers outscored St. Norbert 2-0 in the second period behind Sydney Lemke's unassisted tally at 8:37 of the second, and Nikki Olund's power-play goal at 16:53 that gave Hamline a 2-1 lead.
The Green Knights knotted the game at 2-2 with Natalie Hogan's shorthanded tally before Hamline prevailed in the final minutes. Olund's second goal of the game with 2:02 remaining in the third lifted the Pipers to a 3-2 victory.
Olund paced Hamline with a pair of goals. Molly Meyers, Ashley Grabau, and Elizabeth Valley each tallied assists for the Pipers.
Ten penalties were called in the contest.
Airika Penney notched 22 saves in the goaltending win for Hamline, while Ashley Ommen stopped 20 shots between the pipes for a St. Norbert team that held a 24-23 edge in shots.
The Pipers will travel to UW-Superior on Friday, November 4 for a 3:50 p.m. game.
