SUPERIOR, WIS.-The Hamline University women's hockey team made the two-hour trip north to UW-Superior for a Friday-afternoon non-conference bout. Deja vu took place as Nikki Olund notched her second-straight two-goal game for the Pipers, but it wasn't enough as 49 saves from Yellowjacket goaltender Rose Beeman secured them a 5-3 victory.
Hamline falls to 1-2, while UW-Superior stays unbeaten at 3-0.

Rose Beeman came through with 49 saves in net for UW-Superior, as the Pipers out shot them by a 52-22 margin led by eight a piece from Elizabeth Valley and Emme Nelson. One of those shots resulted in a 1-0 Hamline lead behind Olund's tally at 14:15 of the first period.
This ignited a Yellowjackets squad that rattled off four-straight goals that gave them a 4-1 lead at 5:40 of the third period. Hamline out shot UW-Superior 12-6, and outscored them 2-1 from that point forward. Olund and Molly Meyers each notched a goal to cut Hamline's deficit to 4-3 at the 17:11 mark of the third period, before an empty net goal in the final minute sealed a 5-3 victory for UW-Superior.
Olund finished with two goals and one assist, while Ally Steffensmeier tallied a pair of assists. Kendra Nordick and Airika Penney combined for 17 saves in net for the Pipers. The Yellowjackets were victim of all three penalties called in the contest. C.C. Hayes led the UW-Superior offense with a pair of goals.
Hamline will travel to Saint Mary's (Minn.) on Friday, November 11 for a 7 p.m. game.
