WINONA, MINN.—The 2022-23 MIAC opener pitted the Hamline University women's hockey team at Saint Mary's (Minn.) for a Friday-night affair, where they cruised to a 3-0 shutout victory.
The Pipers improve to 2-2, 1-0 MIAC, while the Cardinals fall to 0-4, 0-1 MIAC.

Junior transfer (NCAA Division I Union) goalie Olivia Rinzel backstopped Hamline with a 25-save performance. After a scoreless first period, her offensive support began at 9:18 of the second frame behind Mackenzie Kaasa's unassisted game-winning tally that gave Hamline a 1-0 lead. Senior transfer Molly Meyers (NCAA Division I Long Island) extended the Pipers' lead to 2-0 six minutes later at 15:47.
Saint Mary's outshot Hamline 10-7 in the third frame, but it didn't amount to anything as Haley Eder-Zdechlik iced the game with an empty net tally with 0:33 on the clock.
Jordan Keeley stopped 28 shots in net for the Cardinals, who were outshot by a 31-25 margin.
Ally Steffensmeier and Ashley Grabau each notched one assist for Hamline.
The Pipers will face Saint Mary's (Minn.) in their 2022-23 home opener at Tria Rink tomorrow, Saturday, November 12 at 2 p.m.
