SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's basketball team's 2022-23 season opener pitted them against Buena Vista at Hutton Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Pipers displayed their brand of "team basketball," as 11 individuals found the score column in a 77-45 trouncing of the Beavers.
Hamline improves to 1-0, while Buena Vista falls to 1-2.

The Pipers led from start-to-finish in a contest that saw them utilize 18 different players. Good things occurred in "18's" for Hamline as they finished the game with an impressive 18 steals. Lydia Lecher came through with a team-high five steals, seven rebounds along with 14 points, while Alyssa Williamson led the offense with 15 points. Tess Hauer rounded out the Pipers in double figures with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
The Pipers shot .391 (27-69) as a team against the Beavers' .357 (15-42) mark. Hamline got a three-point basket from eight different players, which accumulated to a team total of 10.
McKenna Cone led Buena Vista with 11 points.
The Pipers will travel to Martin Luther on Wednesday, November 16 for a 7 p.m. game.
