Pipers Improve to 2-0 With 78-49 Victory Over Knights

NEW ULM, MINN.—The Hamline University women's basketball team kicked off a four-game road swing with a Wednesday-night affair at Martin Luther, where they improved to 2-0 with a 78-49 domination of the Knights.

The Knights took a 17-15 edge after the first quarter, where the Pipers were held to just 3-of-11 shooting. That script flipped, as Hamline kicked-off the second quarter with a 14-3 run, and eventually held the Knights to just 2-of-13 shooting in the frame. That helped give Hamline the lead for good in a 78-49 victory over Martin Luther.

Sixteen players saw time on the court for Hamline, 12 of them found the score column while 11 individuals pulled down rebounds. Lydia Lecher paced Hamline with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting, and tied for a team-best six boards and two steals. Tess Hauer was a presence down low with nine points and six rebounds. Michaela Stamer also contributed nine points. Alyssa Williamson distributed a game-high four assists, while Tanya Barakat engineered the Pipers defense with a pair of blocks.

Hamline finished the contest 29-of-61 (.475) from the field. Lydia Feidt paced Martin Luther with 13 points and a game-high eight boards.

The Pipers will make the short trip to St. Catherine on Saturday, November 19 for a 3 p.m. game.
