St. Olaf 2 Hamline 0
The defense was terrific early in this matchup as the teams looked to separate themselves. Through two periods, the teams remained knotted up in a scoreless tie as neither team was able to find the back of the net. But at the 6:09 point in the third period the Oles broke through with a goal from Sophie McBane who took the assist from Lauren Spear to give them the 1-0 lead. That lead was then extended for St. Olaf with a breakaway goal from Molly Terebayza at the 9:17 point, which made things 2-0. This proved to be enough as the Pipers failed to find the net for the rest of the game.Â
The teams finished with an even 24 shots. In goal for the Pipers,
Olivia Rinzel posted 22 saves in the loss. For the Oles Hannah Fritz took home the win recording 24 saves and a shutout.
The Pipers will be back in action to close the series tomorrow, Saturday, November 19, in Northfield at 3 p.m.
