Pipers Storm Past Oles 6-1

NORTHFIELD, MINN- The Hamline University women's hockey team was in action on Saturday afternoon as they traveled to St. Olaf to close out a weekend series against the Oles. The Pipers used six unanswered goals to cruise to a 6-1 win and a series split.

The win improves the Pipers to 4-3 (3-1 MIAC). The Oles will drop to 5-2-1 (3-1 MIAC).

The Oles were able to get a hot start out of the gate with a first-period goal from Zephryn Jager on a power play at the 7:41 mark and carried that lead through the period. From there the Pipers flipped the switch scoring two goals in first 66 seconds of the second frame from Nikki Olund (00:42) and Emme Nelson (1:06). After the hot start to the period the Pipers were able to find the back of the net again at the 10:49 point when Keirsen Kobi put one in off a Molly Meyers assist. The Pipers continued to pour it on in the third period starting with a goal at the 10:07 mark from Morgan Wohlers to go with her earlier assist. The Pipers then closed it out with two more goals from Cheyenne Abear, and Ashley Grabau to secure the 6-1 victory.

Molly Terebayza, and Annika Patterson recorded assists for the Oles. Nikki Olund and Elizabeth Valley also had assists for the Pipers. 

The Oles outshot the Pipers 39-30 as Olivia Rinzel picked up the win in goal with 38 saves for Hamline. Hannah Fritz will take the loss for the Oles after recording 24 saves.

The Pipers are back in action Tuesday, November 22 when they travel to UW-Eau Claire to take on the Bluegolds at 7 p.m.
