From the jump the Pipers and Wildcats played a very competitive first half with neither team growing their lead past five points. The Wildcats shooting 50% from three-point land helped give them the advantage in the first half while the Pipers struggled shooting, hitting just over 30% of their shots from the field and St. Kate's took a 30-26 lead into halftime.
Hamline then came out of the locker room looking sharp and opened up the second half on a 11-0 run. The Pipers got the lead as high as nine, but the Wildcats were able to fight to get it down to one as the third quarter ended. In the fourth, the Pipers tightened up the screws on defense and held St. Kate's to just 3-of-11 shooting over the final period and pulled away to seal the victory for the Pipers.
Sophomore Lydia Lecher had another big performance for the Pipers as she led the team with 15 points. Tess Hauer also finished in double figures with 11 and also had a team-high five rebounds.
For the Wildcats, they were led by 15 points off the bench from Sydney Elliot. Brooke Torvik and Marissa Fronk each chipped in eight as well.
The Pipers now have their sights set for a big matchup in the MIAC against Gustavus Adolphus at Hutton Arena on Monday, February 14 at 5:45 p.m.
