Power Play Lifts Cobbers Past Pipers 2-1 on Senior Day

SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The final weekend series of 2021-22 pitted the Hamline University men's hockey team against Concordia (Minn.) at TRIA Rink. The Cobbers capitalized on a pair of power-play goals to secure a 2-1 victory over the Pipers on Saturday.

Hamline falls to 4-17-3, 1-10-2 MIAC, while Concordia (Minn.) improves to 13-9-2, 10-4-1 MIAC.

The contest came down to the power play, as Hamline came up empty at 0-for-6 while Concordia converted a 2-for-5 mark. One of those scores gave the Cobbers a 1-0 lead at 4:30 of the first thanks to Mason Plante.

Max Johnson's first tally of the season for Hamline at 7:28 of the third period knotted the game at 1-1. Tyler Bossert put the nail in the coffin for Concordia (Minn.), as his power-play tally at 10:22 of the third made things 2-1.

The Cobbers outshot Hamline 25-20. Kevin Lake made 23 saves in net for Hamline, while Concordia goalie Jackson Nelson stopped 19 shots.

Brendan Sheehan, Tyler Nyman, Jeron Hirschfeld, and Brandon Bissett were honored for senior day.

Both teams will face-off again at TRIA Rink tomorrow, Sunday, February 20 at 6:30 p.m.
