MOORHEAD, MINN.—The final weekend series of 2021-22 pitted the Hamline University women's hockey team in a pair of road games at Concordia (Minn.) The Pipers came back from a 3-1 deficit, and registered a 4-3 OT victory behind Sophie Rausch's power-play goal at 2:22 of the extra session on Saturday afternoon.
Hamline improves to 13-8, 11-4, while Concordia (Minn.) falls to 8-13-1, 4-10-1 MIAC.
Hamline 4, Concordia 3 (Minn.) (OT)
Both teams combined for four second-period goals after a scoreless opening frame. Three of which belonged to the Cobbers as they went into the second intermission with a 3-1 edge. Hamline's lone goal in the second frame belonged Cheyenne Abear at 14:44 that cut her team's deficit to 2-1.
The third period was all Hamline, as they were able to outshoot Concordia 13-7 over the final 20:00 and tie the game 3-3 thanks to Molly Garin at 7:10, and Hannah Dorsey at 16:08 of the session.
The Cobbers mustered three shots on goal to open overtime before they were victims of a hooking penalty that Rausch capitalized on for Hamline at 2:22 to make the score 4-3.
Hamline outshot Concordia 36-31, and went 2-for-4 on the power play.. Pipers goalie McKenna Hulslander made 28 saves in net, while Kiana Flaig stopped 32 shots in net for the Cobbers.
Both teams will square-off again tomorrow, Sunday, February 20 at 2 p.m. in Moorhead, Minnesota.
