MOORHEAD, MINN.—The Hamline University women's basketball team embarked on their longest MIAC road trip of the season on Saturday, when they traveled to Concordia (Minn.). The Pipers stretched their win streak to four with a 66-61 decision over the Cobbers.
Hamline improves to 15-4, 13-3 MIAC, while Concordia (Minn.) falls to 7-10, 7-8 MIAC.
Hamline 66, Concordia 61
After shooting just .307 (4-of-13) in the first quarter, the Pipers trailed 22-12 after the opening 10:00 of play. The Pipers managed to increase that total in each passing frame as they mustered a .538 (7-of-13) figure in the fourth. Hamline's shooting improvements over the course of the game inched them closer to Concordia, as their deficit shrank to one point at halftime with a 30-29 score.
Five lead changes occurred in the second half, as the Pipers grabbed the lead for good off Lydia Lecher's layup at 6:09 of the fourth quarter that made the score 57-55.
Lecher led Hamline with 18 points, while Tess Hauer notched a double double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Chan'el Anderson-Manning led the Pipers defense with four steals. Offensively, Hamline notched a .424 (25-of-59) mark from the floor, while Concordia held a slight edge at .439 (25-of-57).
The Cobbers were led by Emily Beseman's 18 points.
Hamline will host Saint Benedict on Monday, February 7 at 7 p.m.
