Falcons Defeat Pipers 10-7 in Extra Innings

TUCSON, ARIZ.—The Hamline University baseball team squared-off against NACC member Concordia (Wis.) in Tucson, Arizona on Tuesday. The Pipers dropped a 10-7 (10 Innings) decision to the Falcons.

Hamline falls to 3-6, while Concordia (Wis.) improves to 4-3.

The Pipers never led in the contest, but came within striking distance with a two-run sixth inning that knotted things at 6-6 thanks to RBI-doubles from Mac Enlow and Colin Schuetz. Tyler Johnson and Enlow scored on the plays. Things stayed scoreless over the next three innings, which led to extra baseball.

A three-run triple from Brooks Kalschuer in the 10th inning was the nail in the coffin, which widened the score to 9-6. Kalschuer came around to score on Johannes Haakenson's single that put things at 10-6. The Pipers responded with just one run courtesy of Owen Christenson, who reached on a fielder's choice that scored Xavier Bembnister, which made things 10-7.

Enlow and Cullen Buck each had three hits for a Pipers offense that outhit Concordia (Wis.) 13-11. Johnson went 2-for-4 at the plate for Hamline. Both teams combined to use 11 pitchers. Max Gerstner, Jonah Smallfield, Will Tzavaras, and Spencer Klika each saw pitching time for the Pipers.

Hamline will face Edgewood in Tucson, Arizona tomorrow, Wednesday, March 16 at 10 a.m. (MT).
