ORLANDO, FLA.—The Hamline University men's tennis team faced Springfield (Mass.) in a Tuesday-afternoon match in Orlando, Florida. The Pipers dropped an 8-1 decision to the Pride.
Hamline falls to 1-6, while Springfield improves to 1-2.

The Pipers started hot, as they prevailed in No. 1 doubles thanks to an 8-5 win from Tate Johanning/Sam Thompson. That was the only victory Hamline mustered as Springfield went on to sweep singles en route to an 8-1 victory. The No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches went into extra sets as Nazeer Robinson fell 6-4, 6-7, 10-8 in No. 1, while Sam Thompson dropped a 1-6, 6-1, 10-5 heartbreaker in the No. 2 position.
The Pipers will face Saint Francis (Ind.) in Orlando, Florida tomorrow, Wednesday, March 16 at 8 a.m. (ET).
