Pipers Wrap-Up Spring Trip With Walk-Off Loss to Falcons

TUCSON, ARIZ.—The Hamline University baseball team closed their spring trip with a Saturday-morning bout against Concordia (Wis.) in Tucson, Arizona. The Pipers held a 6-5 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth, where the Falcons walked off with two runs en route to a 7-6 victory.

The Pipers fall to 4-8, while the Falcons improved to 5-4 overall.

Concordia (Wis.) 7, Hamline 6

The Pipers grabbed their first lead of the contest with a two-run seventh inning. Stephen Schmidt dug Hamline out of a 5-4 deficit when he led off with a double, stole third base, and came home on Cullen Buck's single to knot the contest at 5-5. Buck later scored off Mac Enlow's double to give Hamline a 6-5 advantage.

The Falcons came through with back-to-back bases loaded singles in the bottom of the ninth inning to walk off with a 7-6 victory.

Enlow led Hamline at the plate with a 3-for-5 day that included a double and an RBI. Gavin Renwick went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI, while Braeden Bourne also notched a 2-for-4 outing for the Pipers. Both teams registered 11 hits.

Ryan Conn, Will Tzavaras, and Jonah Smallfield combined to give up 11 hits and seven runs. They collectively struck out four batters.

The Pipers will face North Central (Minn.) in a neutral-site single game at Northwestern (Minn.) in Roseville, Minnesota at 1:30 p.m.
