SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's lacrosse team's 2022 home opener pitted them against Colorado College at Klas Field on Thursday afternoon. The Pipers struck first, but eventually dropped a 22-5 decision to the Tigers.
Hamline falls to 1-5 overall, while Colorado College improves to 7-3.

Nicole Phillips gave the Pipers a 1-0 lead with her first goal of the season at 13:44 of the opening quarter, but it didn't faze the Tigers as they stormed to a 22-5 victory.
Phillips and Molly Garin each tallied a two-goal game for Hamline, while SJ Welch contributed one. Taryn Leonard dished one assist, and posted a team-best seven draw controls. Kendra Haselow and Katelyn Krummel each grabbed three ground balls.
Colorado College outshot Hamline 42-11. The Tigers were led by Bella Scola's six goals and one assist for seven points.
Pipers goalie Justine Case made 10 saves throughout the first, third, and fourth quarters. Corinne Cochran, who played the entire second quarter, made one save for Hamline. Natalie Slade and Avery Newton split time between the pipes for the Tigers, and combined to make five saves.
The Pipers will host No. 23 Chicago at Klas Field on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m.
