SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's tennis team embarked on a rare doubleheader against Minnesota Morris, and Concordia (Minn.) in Fargo, North Dakota on Sunday. The Pipers prevailed with a 7-2 victory over Minnesota Morris, and dropped an 8-1 decision against Concordia (Minn.) to send their record to 2-10, 0-4 MIAC on the season.
Hamline 7, Minnesota Morris 2
Hamline's lone two losses in the match occurred via default. Taylor Vyskocil/Lily Vang came through with an 8-3 win at the No. 1 spot, while Taylor Hopkins/Sydney Hubbard capitalized at the No. 2 position with an 8-6 victory.
The Pipers were successful in the singles flight, started by Vyskocil's 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 victory at the No. 1 spot. Vang came through in No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win, while Jenna Rubbelke notched a 6-3, 6-3 decision at the No. 3 position. No. 5 singles saw Hopkins tally a dominating 6-2, 6-2 win. Hubbard was perfect at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 decision.
Concordia (Minn.) 8, Hamline 1
The Pipers' lone victory occurred at No. 4 singles, where Hopkins registered a 6-1, 6-3 decision.
Hamline will return to action on Saturday, April 2, when they'll host Bethel at 11 a.m.
