Offense Couldn't Get Going Against Johnnies

COLLEGEVILLE, MINN.—The Hamline University baseball team couldn't snap their losing skid, as they drop a pair of games at Saint John's (DH) by scores of 4-0 (7 Innings) and 9-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Pipers fall to 7-15, 1-5 MIAC, while the Johnnies improve to 13-13, 5-3 MIAC with the sweep.

The third and sixth innings each resulted in a pair of Johnnies runs, which proved to be enough to lock a 4-0 victory. Joe Becker's leadoff triple in the third inning set up Max Nyrop's RBI-single that made the score 1-0. Ethan Roe closed the frame with an RBI-double that sent home Owen Dauk, who walked following Becker's triple, to make the score 2-0.

The Johnnies extended their cushion to 4-0 in the sixth inning when they turned a pair of Pipers errors into runs.

Ryan Conn and Jonah Smallfield each tossed three innings on the pitching mound for Hamline. They collectively surrendered 11 hits, four runs (three earned), and struck out four.

Cullen Buck, Owen Christenson, Braeden Bourne, and Tyler Johnson (double) each notched a hit for the Pipers offense.

Seven-of-nine Johnnies runs occurred via the home run courtesy of Owen Dauk, Max Nyrop, Jordan Amundson, Ethan Roe, and Jack Schleper. The Pipers narrowed their deficit to 4-1 in the fourth inning when Christenson walked, advanced to second base on Cullen Buck's hit by pitch, and scored on Mac Enlow's single.

The ninth inning saw Ian Sandbo reach on a fielder's choice, and score from first base off Bourne's double to make the score 9-2.

The Pipers notched five hits as a team, led by Bourne's double. Six individuals saw pitching time for Hamline.

The Pipers will host Bethel (DH) at CHS Field on Saturday, April 16 at 6 p.m.
