SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's lacrosse team returned from a 14-day layoff with a Wednesday-night MWLC bout against Augsburg at Klas Field. The Pipers led from start-to-finish, and received goals from nine different players en route to a 20-6 domination of the Auggies.
Hamline improves to 3-6, 2-0 MWLC, while Augsburg stays winless at 0-14, 0-3 MWLC.
Hamline 20, Augsburg 6
The Pipers were dominate in the draw control department as they tripled the Auggies with a 21-7 ratio, which led to a large chunk of time in the offensive zone. Molly Garin played a large role in setting that tone with a game-high eight draw controls, four goals, seven shots, three draw controls, and three caused turnovers. Taryn Leonard registered five points for the Pipers, which included four goals and one assist on a 2-for-3 mark in free position attempts. Leonard added five draw controls to her stat line.
Maitland Luksan and Maria Lewis each registered a three-goal game, while SJ Welch rounded out the multi-goal scorers with two along with a game-high four assists and six points for Hamline.
The Pipers outshot the Auggies 30-13.
Justine Case made five saves in net for Hamline. Emma Meythaler played the first 30:00 between the pipes for Augsburg, where she stopped five shots before Lay Reid came in relief for the final 30:00 and didn't record a save.
The Pipers will return to action on Saturday, April 23 against Cornell (Iowa) at Klas Field. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
