Offense Can't Get Going in 5-2 Loss to Knights, Rain Suspends Game Two

NORTHFIELD, MINN.—The first-of-four consecutive road bouts were upon the Hamline University baseball team on Friday afternoon, when they traveled to Carleton (DH). The Pipers dropped a 5-2 decision in game one, before rain suspended game two in the bottom of the fifth inning, where the Knights hold a 4-3 lead. The second game will be resumed on a date yet to be determined.

Hamline falls to 9-22, 3-12 MIAC, while Carleton improves to 9-16, 6-7 MIAC.

The Pipers struck first with a pair of third-inning runs. Braeden Bourne led off with a walk, stole second, and scored off Cullen Buck's two-out RBI-single to give Hamline a 1-0 lead. Buck would steal second to move into scoring position for Mac Enlow, who registered an RBI-single to extend the margin to 2-0.

The Knights responded with five unanswered runs that included three in the third inning, and two in the fourth frame to lock a 5-2 victory.

Hamline's lone two hits of the game came from Enlow and Buck.

Max Gerstner got the pitching start for the Pipers. He surrendered seven hits and five runs (four earned). Will Tzavaras and Hayden Ring each tossed one inning in relief.

The Pipers will travel to Crown for a single-game on Monday, May 2 at 3 p.m.
