The Pipers found themselves in a 14-0 hole before they found the end zone early in the second quarter. They recovered a Knights fumbled punt return that gave them the ball back at Carleton's 45 yard line. Carleton stretched their lead to 45-6 before Hamline scored for the final time late in the third quarter. Ryan Lauterbach's 41-yard reception from Villanueva at the Carleton-49 put Hamline inside the red zone, which set up Charlie Wilson's four-yard touchdown run that cut the score to 45-12 with 4:27 left in the third, where things stayed final.
Wilson finished the day with seven catches for 110 yards and one touchdown for Hamline. Villanueva went 13-of-33 passing for 196 yards and one touchdown.
