SAINT PAUL, MINN.—The Hamline University women's basketball team made the one-hour trek south to Gustavus Adolphus College for a rare Monday-night tilt, where they dropped their second-straight game by an 84-55 decision.
The Pipers fall to 10-4, 7-4 MIAC, while the Gusties remain atop the MIAC standings with a 12-2, 9-2 MIAC mark.
Gustavus Adolphus 84, Hamline 55
The Pipers came out of the gates with a 9-4 lead three minutes into the contest, but the Gusties responded with a commanding 21-2 run and didn't look back en route to an 84-55 victory. Both teams combined to use 26 players in the game, 15 of which were from Hamline. Twelve of those Pipers found the score column, led by nine points from Michaela Stamer. Chan'el Anderson-Manning came through with a team-leading four steals and seven points.
Gustavus exploited Hamline at the glass, as they finished with an impressive 23 offensive boards, and a total of 47. Kylie Baranick paced the Gusties with 21 points and five assists. Nine different Gustavus players contributed a rebound, led by Rachel Kawiecki's nine.
The Pipers will travel to Carleton on Wednesday, January 18 for a 7 p.m. game.
