NORTHFIELD, MINN.—The Hamline University women's basketball team snapped a two-game losing skid with a convincing 65-37 road victory against Carleton in Northfield.
The Pipers improve to 11-4, 8-4 MIAC, while the Knights fall to 4-10, 3-8 MIAC.
Hamline 65, Carleton 37
Hamline, who never trailed in the contest, grew their lead to double-digits for good in the second quarter en route to a 65-37 drubbing. Their defense continued to prevail, as they held Carleton to a dismal 14-of-47 (.298) shooting mark and a 4-of-17 figure (.235) from downtown. The Pipers offense, who finished with a 25-of-60 (.417) shooting percentage and 15 assists, got 34 points from their bench. Michaela Stamer and Kate Trachsel had a lot to do with that with nine points apiece off the bench, followed by eight from Camille Cummings.
Lydia Lecher led all players with 12 points, nine boards, and three steals in the game. Chan'el Anderson-Manning posted a game-high four assists and three steals for the Pipers.
Aiana Whitfield led Carleton with 11 points.
The Pipers will travel to St. Olaf on Saturday, January 21 for a 3 p.m. game.
