SAINT PAUL, MINN- The Hamline University men's basketball team was back in action Wednesday when they hosted the Carleton Knights in a big MIAC matchup. The Knights were able to use a late push to take home the win in the end 80-69.
With the loss the Pipers will drop to 10-6 (6-5 MIAC). Carleton will improve their record to 14-2 (9-2 MIAC).

The Pipers got off to a great start on the top team in the MIAC,  jumping out to a 17-9 lead early. After a push by the Knights to get back in control the teams went back and forth, with the Pipers taking the lead into the break 34-33. The second half continued the same way with the teams going back and forth, as the lead never got past five for either team until the Knights pulled ahead to 68-61 with 5:12 left in the game. From there, Carleton was able to use that separation to pull away for a 80-69 victory.
The Pipers were led by
Bradley Cimperman who poured in 25 points,
Austin Holt and
Mick Wherley turned in good performances with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
For the Knights, Alex Gibbons led the way with 17 points, Jeremy Beckler hit four three-pointers on the way to 16 points, and Luke Harris posted 15 points.
The Pipers will be in action again when they travel to St. Olaf on Saturday, January 21 for a 1 p.m. game.
