Oles Prevail in Final Minutes Over Pipers

NORTHFIELD, MINN.—The Hamline University women's basketball team made the 30-minute trip to St. Olaf for a Saturday-afternoon affair. The Oles' first lead didn't occur until there was 3:00 left in the game, when Grace Hegland's jumper made the score 52-51. It kick-started a 10-5 St. Olaf run that included four made free throws down the stretch, which iced them a 60-56 victory over the Pipers.

Hamline falls to 11-5, 8-5 MIAC, while St. Olaf improves to 8-8, 5-8 MIAC.

The Pipers led for the entirety of the opening three quarters, and the first seven minutes of the fourth. All three of the game's lead changes occurred within :30, as Hegland's jumper gave St. Olaf their first lead at 52-51 with 3:00 remaining. Michaela Stamer responded with a layup :16 later that gave Hamline their final lead of the contest at 53-52, before Rachel Kelly's layup at 2:30 gave St. Olaf the driver's seat for good at 54-53. Four-of-six Oles points down the stretch occurred at the charity stripe, which sealed them the 60-56 victory.

Lydia Lecher notched a game-high 19 points and four assists for Hamline, while Stamer finished the contest with 12 points. Alyssa Williamson posted a game-high three steals.

Paige Yagodinski led St. Olaf with 12 points, while Rachel Kelly's double double consisted of 12 points and 14 rebounds.

The Pipers will host Macalester on Wednesday, January 25 at 7 p.m.
