Payton Luff gave Hamline their lone lead of the contest with a goal at 11:33 of the first period, which made things 1-0. Saint Benedict closed the remainder of the frame with a 7-0 shots advantage, which resulted in a pair of goals that gave them a 2-1 lead courtesy of Corrine Brown at 12:58, and Emma Rooks at 16:53.

It was all Hamline throughout the opening five minutes of the second period, as they peppered the Bennies for a 4-0 edge in shots. It culminated in Morgan Wohlers' wrist shot from the right circle that was untouched by the goalie at 5:27 of the second, which knotted things at 2-2. Presley Kraemer finished the game with two shots, one of which found the back of the net at 14:45 of the second that gave the Bennies a 3-2 lead.

The Pipers pulled the goalie at 17:48 of the third, and drew a Saint Benedict checking penalty at 18:12 to put themselves in a 6-on-4 situation. It paid off courtesy of Morgan Wohlers' second tally of the contest at 18:51 that tied the game at 3-3.

The Pipers would drop their first overtime game of the season at 3:58 behind Timm's breakaway goal that lifted Saint Benedict to a 4-3 (OT) victory.
