DULUTH, MINN.—The Hamline University women's hockey team made the two-hour trip I-35 northbound to St. Scholastica in a rare Saturday-night game. The Pipers held a shots advantage for the second-straight night with a 39-21 margin, but couldn't come out on top in the score column as they dropped a 4-2 decision to the Saints.

Hamline falls to 7-11-1, 6-5-1 MIAC, while the Saints improve to 6-11-1, 5-7-0 MIAC with the weekend sweep.

The opening period and a half saw both teams trade a pair of goals en route to a 2-2 score. The Pipers, who never led in the contest, scored both their goals in the second period courtesy of Morgan Wohlers at 2:09 that made things 1-1, followed by Cheyenne Abear's score at 8:19 that knotted the margin at 2-2.

The Saints concluded things with a pair of unanswered goals within the final :30 of the second and third periods. Hanley Block's game-winner at 19:37 of the second gave St. Scholastica a 3-2 lead, before Emily Sabol put home an empty netter at 19:35 of the third period to seal a 4-2 victory despite her team being out shot 15-4 in the final frame.

Kayla Kasel and Abby Pohlkamp netted the Saints' first two goals. Each team was assessed three penalties in the contest.

Kendra Nordick made 17 saves in net for Hamline, while Ashlea Arvidson stopped 37 shots for St. Scholastica.

The Pipers will travel to No. 2 Gustavus Adolphus on Friday, February 3 for a 7 p.m. game.
