Pipers Come Up Short at Bethel

ARDEN HILLS, MINN.—The Hamline University women's soccer team squared-off against Bethel in a Wednesday-afternoon bout in Arden Hills. Malia Beilby carried the Royals on her shoulders, as she had a hand in both of their goals in a 2-0 decision over the Pipers.

Hamline falls to 1-13-1, 0-9-1 MIAC, while Bethel improves to 4-9-2, 2-8-0 MIAC. This game was originally scheduled for Saturday, September 30, but was rescheduled twice due to poor field conditions.

Bethel 2, Hamline 0

Both teams combined for four shots on goal throughout the opening 45:00. Three of those attempts belonged to Bethel, who found the back of the net on two occasions. Beilby scored the first goal in the ninth minute, and set up Jessica Oliver's tally in the 43rd minute that widened the margin to 2-0. 

Hamline fired on all cylinders in the second half with nine shots, but couldn't find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss.

Beilby led the Royals with five shots, while Sydni Thompson also mustered five shots for the Pipers.

Hamline goalkeeper Isabella Jensen stopped six shots in net. Kate Green made five saves in the goalkeeping win for Bethel, who out shot Hamline 15-13.

The Pipers will conclude their 2023 season at Saint Mary's (Minn.) on Saturday, October 28 at 3:30 p.m.
