ASHLAND, WIS.—Senior goaltender Maximillian Haselbacher, who also contributed an assist, registered a career-high 40 saves to propel the Hamline University men's hockey team to a 4-1 road victory over Northland on Friday night.
The Pipers improve to 3-2-0, while the Lumberjacks fall to 1-4-0.
Hamline 4, Northland 1
Northland doubled up Hamline in shots on goal at 14-7 in a scoreless opening frame before each team registered 16 in the second period. It was the Pipers who turned those shots into a 3-0 lead courtesy of goals from Carson Simon at 1:27, Jackson Wille at 4:44, and Derek Becklin at 7:44.
The Lumberjacks finished the contest with a 41-32 shots advantage. Haselbacher's lone blemish occurred 00:37 into the third period, when Camille Marcoux narrowed Northland's deficit to 3-1. Mathias Branton put the nail in the coffin with an empty-net goal at 18:34 that sealed a 4-1 victory for the Pipers.
AJ Carls, Jacob Hicks, Bailey Sommers, Jake Hosszu, Ryan Brandt, Haselbacher, and Dallas Duckson each contributed an assist for Hamline.
Lumberjacks goaltender Viktor Wennberg stopped 28 shots in net.
The Pipers will return to action tomorrow, Saturday, November 11 at UW-River Falls. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
